Vishakapatnam sources have stated that the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) will stage dharnas, street plays and rallies from June 8 to 18 from Visakhapatnam to Nellore to highlight the alleged ill effects of the liquor policy of the State government.
Meanwhile when addressing the media persons on Monday, State AIDWA president Prabhavati said the government has not been adhering to the Supreme Court’s directive on shifting of shops along the National Highways.
Prabhavati said “Instead of enforcing the directive, the government has asked for relaxation till June 30 and also have petitioned to reduce the distance from 500 m to 100 m”. According to her, the government has decided to increase the revenue from liquor sales from ₹ 13,000 crore to ₹ 15,000 crore. She said habit of drinking in men is killing lives of many breadwinners of the family and his family members too.
