A proposal for launching an airline named after the capital city Amaravathi once the capital is developed is on the lines.
The state government is planning the initiative to bring global exposure to the capital city and is excited to put on the name of the new city for the new airlines.
Once the city is developed the state government may like to have its own international airport and airline depending upon the requirement at that particular time.
At present there are five commercial airports in Andhra Pradesh — Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Rajamundry and Kadapa.
And six greenfield airports are being developed under the public private partnership mode at Bhogapuram, Dagadarthi, Orvakallu, Kuppam Tadepallegudam and Ongole.
Air passenger traffic in the state is expected to grow to 3.6 million by the end of this fiscal, compared to 2.7 million passengers in the previous financial year.
Aircraft movement in all the airports in the state is expected to grow to 44,437 by the end of the fiscal. And there might arise the situation for an additional airport in the given verge of development.
