While paying tributes to the TDP founder and former Chief Minister NTR on his 22nd death anniversary, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu said NT Rama Rao’s statue will be constructed along with Dr B R Ambedkar’s statue. (“NTR Statue to come up in Amravati”)
Addressing a gathering at his residence, Chandrababu Naidu stated that the TDP government has been implementing all the promises of NTR. Though NTR was not with us, we have his blessings, Naidu said and added NTR was always with poor and marginalised sections in the state.
The Chief Minister added that there were proposals to promote NTR philosophy to create awareness and inculcate values among the public. The TDP leaders and NTR fans have donated blood on the occasion.
Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, popularly known as NTR was an actor-director who served as APs chief minister for seven years over three times, from 1983 to 1995. He was the 10thchief minister of Andhra Pradesh and founder of Telugu Desam Party.
He died on January 18th, 1996 in Hyderabad at the age of 72, reportedly due to cardiac arrest. He was awarded the fourth highest civilian award Padma Shri in 1968, recognizing his contribution to the Indian cinema.
